Seventh Art

US independent theatrical distribution and foreign sales company, Seventh Art Releasing, has brought Mark Harris' critically acclaimed documentary The Long Way Home to the European Film Market. The documentary, which tells the story of the aftermath of the Holocaust and how the survivors tried to return to normal lives, has been nominated this year for an Academy Award. Narrated by Morgan Freeman, the documentary has already screened successfully at the Sundance, Washington DC, Seattle, Amsterdam and Valladolid film festivals, and has been sold to the US (Showtime), Canada (Alliance), Singapore and Israel.

In a move to attract greater European trade and encourage European/American co-production, Seventh Art's president Udy Epstein is setting up a European office in Zurich, which will be headed by former Joint Venture exec Esther van Messel.

"We felt that sales in Europe would be best served by an experienced executive who knows all the big players, and Esther is that person," says Epstein.

Seventh Art can be contacted in Berlin at the Independents Showcase stand in the Cinecenter. CP
