What's where?

INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION Official Programme, headed by Moritz de Hadeln. Main venue for the evening screenings of the films competing for Golden and Silver Bears: Zoo-Palast. Repeat screenings of the films are held the following morning at the Royal-Palast and the following evening in the Humboldt-Saal at the Urania. Part of the programme is being repeated at the International.

INTERNATIONAL PANORAMA is part of the Official Programme and is divided into three categories: Art & Essai, Documents, and Panorama Special. The main venues are Atelier am Zoo (Zoo-Palast), the Royal-Palast and the Film-Palast Berlin. Repeat screenings take place in the Film-Palast Berlin; a selection is also being shown at the International.

INTERNATIONAL FORUM OF YOUNG CINEMA headed by Ulrich Gregor. The main venue for the Forum is the Delphi-Filmpalast am Zoo. The press screenings take place at the Zoo-Palast (Theatre 7). The repeat screenings and a few special events are at Arsenal cinema and at the Akademie der Künste (Berlin-Tiergarten). A selection of films from the Forum programme is being shown at the Zeughauskino in co-operation with the Babylon cinema at the Zeughauskino.

CHILDREN'S FILMFEST The main theatre of the 21st Children's Filmfest is the Urania. Repeat screenings can be seen there as well as at the Adria Filmtheater, at the Filmtheater am Friedrichshain, and at the Landesbildstelle in Berlin-Moabit (only for groups with a prior appointment).





RETROSPECTIVE Presented jointly by the Stiftung Deutsche Kinemathek and the film festival. This year's Retrospective is dedicated to the brothers Robert and Curt Siodmak and takes place at the Astor. The Hommage celebrates French actress Catherine Deneuve. Her films will be shown in the Cinema Paris. The Zeughauskino will show repeat screenings of the films by Robert Siodmak. The Central will show repeat screenings of Curt Siodmak's films.

NEW GERMAN CINEMA This section is aimed primarily at buyers and is open to accredited festival participants. Venue: Kleist-Saal of the Urania.

EUROPEAN FILM MARKET The film market screenings are open to accredited festival-goers with a market badge. Screenings: Studios 1-10 in the CineCenter, in the Zoo-Palast (Kammerspiele A and B) and in the Royal Palast (Theatres 3 and 4).

CINECENTER Budapester Str. 42 (the former Kunsthalle). Access to the CineCenter is only for accredited festival participants. The Information Counter in the entrance foyer is, however, open to the general public.

PRESS CENTRE The Press Centre is located at the Hotel Inter Continental Berlin, Budapester Str. 2, 10787 Berlin. Press conferences will be held in the Saal Charlottenburg of the hotel; press screenings (for competition films) will take place in the morning in the Zoo-Palast.

MOVING PICTURES/BERLINALE The editorial office of Moving Pictures at Berlinale is located at Hardenbergstr. 29 (side entrance of Budapester Str. 50), tel: (030) 265 55 143. The location of the advertising office will be on the first floor of the CineCenter, tel: (030) 265 51 529.

BERLINALE SOUVENIR SHOP The Berlinale souvenir shop, at Budapester Str. 18, between CineCenter and the Intercontinental Hotel, is open during the festival from 10.00 to 20.00. Merchandise including official posters and T-shirts will be available.
