Jeanne et le Garçon Formidable

Jeanne et le garçon formidable is a musical comedy with a serious subject: Aids. Jeanne is a beautiful young woman whose busy life is interrupted only by a succession of lovers - until she meets Olivier and falls head over heels in love. But Olivier is HIV positive and, knowing he has little time to live, he vanishes, leaving Jeanne distraught and desperate to find him before it's too late.
"Despite the gravity of the subject, it is not a sad film," say the directors. "It wasn't our intention to make light of the ravages of illness  We attempted to show the unfairness of lives cut short and the illness' disastrous effects upon an entire generation.
"The music illustrates the characters and their transformations without wordy discourse
It expresses what we cannot otherwise communicate. In showing life's buoyancy and vitality, we could better underline the tragedy of Aids."

(Dir)/(Scr): Olivier Ducastel, Jacques Martineau (Cast): Virginie Ledoyen, Mathieu Demy, Jacques Bonnaffé, Valérie Bonneton, Frédéric Gorny (Running time): 98 Minutes
