It's not often that bacon butties and voorst are an issue on film sets, but British producer Keith Griffiths is sure to face some tough catering problems on his new film, A Change Of Heart, which he describes as 'a dark comedy about heart transplants'. Its writer-director GF Newman (a hugely respected figure in British TV drama) is a confirmed and sometimes evangelical vegan. He insists that nobody eats meat during working hours, a policy sure to antagonise carnivorous crew members.
Griffiths is in Berlin to tie up loose ends on the £1.5-2 million production. He is also working on a new project with Lutz Becker that will intrigue cineastes everywhere. Using digital technology, Eisenstein's original scripts and newly discovered footage, he and Becker hope to make a definitive 100-minute restoration of Eisenstein's uncompleted masterpiece, Que Viva Mexico.
