NTV-Profit in good shape

NTV-Profit, which was founded two years ago by the Russian giant Most Group - one of the producers of Three Stories (in competition in Berlin) -has signed a contract with Gaumont for the rights to seven films for television, video and theatre. The list of titles includes The Fifth Element by Luc Bresson and XXL with Gérard Depardieu.

NTV-Profit is currently in negotiations with Fortissimo on several children's films. New projects include The Thief, directed by Pavel Chukraj and The Kazan Orphan, which features the debut of actor-star Vladimir Mashkov. Under the patronage of the Moscow mayor, NTV-Profit is also planning to reconstruct two movie theatres in Moscow, the Forum and Oktyabr. The rebuilding work will cost US$20 million for each theatre.

Furthermore, the company has reached an agreement with Walt Disney and Sony to build multiplexes in Moscow and other Russian cities such as Yekaterinburg, Novosibirsk and Volgograd. YT
