Sogetel links to Querejeta, Trueba Sogetel, the massive film production arm of the Spanish media giant Sogecable, has signed with the top independent producer Elias Querejeta to co-finance his 1997 film slate. Sogecable is a joint venture of Canal+ and Prisa, Spain's biggest publishing and media conglomerate.
Having signed with the veteran Querejeta, the acclaimed producer of classic pics by Saura and Erice, Sogetel now holds a raft of first-look, exclusive or housekeeping deals with the lion's share of Spain's most prominent producers.
Sogetel also holds deals with the hit comedy specialists BocaBoca, CPA, Bailando en la luna, Fernando Trueba PC, Jose Luis Cuerda and free web Tele 5.
The 1997 deal kicks in with Sogetel putting up co-financing on the next feature projects by Gracia Querejeta (Robert Ryland's Last Journey) and Fernando Leon, whose debut, Familia, will be screening in the Berlin Panorama.
