CECCHI GORI:

MGM/UA Telecommunications Group has entered into two separate, multi-million-dollar agreements with Italy's Cecchi Gori Group for free-television broadcasts of select MGM and United Artists feature films and television product. The agreements mark CGG's first major deal with an American studio for programming on its own networks.

Separate agreement

Under the first deal, CGG has licensed Italian broadcasting rights to three James Bond titles, including GoldenEye. In a separate agreement, the company also secured Italian broadcasting rights to several dowen prominent features, series and made-for-television features in the MGM/UA library, such as Get Shorty, Species, rob Roy and the upcoming All Dogs Go to Heaven 2.

TROMA:

At this year's AFM, Troma Inc is screening new movis and acting out scenes from some of its current productions, including the almost completed Tromeo & Juliet, a modern re-telling of the classic tale with, according to the company, "all of the mutations, car crashes, decapitations and decapuletations that Shakespeare originally inteded."

On 1 and 2 March, Laemmle's Theatre in Santa Monica will be having special Troma screenings of Blondes Have More Guns, a film in the tradition of Airplane! and The Naked Gun, and Beware! Children at Play.

Further Troma offerings include Cannibal! The Musical, Space Freaks From Planet Mutoid and Teenage Catgirls in Heat..

TOUCH:

Tom Arnold, Bridget Fonda and Skeet Ulrich are to star in Paul Schrader's new project,Touch. Lila Cazes and Fida Attieh who owned the option on the book, will produce for Lumiere Films, the production, financing and distribution company Cazes founded with her husband, Jean.

Cazes said that Lumiere will totally finance the entire production of Touch, which is exactly the way they previously produced their hit film, leaving Las Vegas.

HUNGARIAN:

Home video rights to the Hungarian classic hit film, A Hungarian Fairy Tale, has been licensed by Fox/Lorber Home Video (Orion) from MDWax/Courier Films for North America beginning January 1996.
