Capella Films has optioned the rights to Mike Resnick's sc-fi thriller Santiago, based on his best-selling novel Santiago: A Myth of the far Future, against a mid-six-figure purchase price. The film will be produced by Ed Elbert.
The screenplay is written by Resnick and his wife Carol. The Grand Designs Entertainment creative team will include David March Douglas as director, Kia Jam as co-producer, Chris Holt as director of photography, and Tim Douglas, who recently inked a two-picture deal with Miramax's Dimension Films, as visual effects supervisor.
“Through their extraordinary display of sophisticated high-end computer generated special effects [on the short For the Cause], thee filmmakers have proven that they are capable of bringing a unique vision to the genre,” said Capella's David Korda, who with Jean-Louis Rubin will oversee the project.
